Dr. Peter Barnett and Dr. Trevor Shewski’s passion for dentistry has made Star Ranch Dental into one of the most trusted cosmetic, implant, and family dental practices in the Plano, Texas area. Dr. Trevor Shewski
Dr. Shewski prioritizes comfort and care when treating patients, creating a warm, friendly environment. He believes that every smile is beautiful, and strives to help his patients maintain healthy, functional teeth that are uniquely theirs – while opening up new possibilities for desired appearance and change. Above all, Dr. Shewski loves helping people, and it shows in his own smile and gentle nature.
A native of Plano, Dr. Shewski has local family roots and loves that he is serving his community by providing excellent dental care. Dr. Shewski attended dental school at Texas A&M College of Dentistry in Dallas after graduating from the University of Arkansas with a BS in Biology. He is an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry and regular provider for Watermark Urgent Care in Dallas. Dr. Shewski has experience in a wide range of treatment, including restorative dentistry, root canals, extractions and more – and he continues to spend time outside of his day to day practice furthering his dental knowledge through continuing education.
Dr. Shewski is Invisalign certified and an active member of the American Academy of Clear Aligners and American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He loves working with patients – whether to improve oral health or cosmetic appearance – and especially loves the end result: Improved confidence and happier smiles.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Shewski spends time with his wife Libby, son Liam, and their dog Luka, and enjoys having his family close by. He loves sports (especially basketball and baseball), fishing, and going to the movies.

Dr. Peter Barnett
Born and raised in New York City, Dr. Peter Barnett spent many hours with his grandparents who were both dentists. He has spent the last 40 years in dental and health care management.
He is a recognized leader in the dental insurance industry, as well as a respected businessman owning and managing practices for many years in the northeast and now in Texas. Dr. Barnett provides almost 40 years of experience and knowledge in his care of our patients. His philosophy is that all dentistry is cosmetic dentistry – with the goal of giving patients results that are not only functional but are also appealing to the eye.
He strives to give his patients the best treatment available today to maintain healthy, functional teeth, while also recognizing his patient’s desire to improve their smiles. Dr. Barnett also focuses on the treatment of head, neck and jaw joint muscles and the nerve system that allows the jaw to function – through his Texas Headache Relief program.
Additionally, Dr. Barnett offers an Airway Management program (also known as sleep dentistry) to help patients with moderate to mild sleep apnea. As periodontal disease can greatly impact the overall health of your mouth and entire body, Star Ranch Dental diligently educates on and delivers treatment programs designed to help patients eradicate the disease and maintain healthier gums for life. Our perio program is led and continually developed by Dr. Barnett. Dr. Barnett offers a level of expertise and experience our patients have come to rely on – and so can you.
Dr. Barnett attended dental school at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, graduating in 1977. He completed his residency at Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, New York. He is licensed to practice in five states: New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas and New Mexico.
Dr. Barnett has also been awarded a MBA in Healthcare Management from the Wharton School of Business. A published author of numerous articles on dentistry and health care, Dr. Barnett has served as a frequent lecturer at dental schools and elsewhere, and maintains membership in the Texas Dental Association and the American Dental Association.
In addition, Dr. Barnett has also served on the board of CollaGenex from 1997 to 2008, a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on developing and marketing innovative branded products to the dental and dermatology markets, including Periostat, the first and only systemic pharmaceutical to treat periodontal disease. Through out his tenure at Collagenex he served and chaired on several committees. In his spare time, he enjoys reading a good spy novel, traveling and spending time with his family.

Everyone on the Star Ranch Dental team gets along well and are even friends outside of the office. It's not uncommon to hear staff laughing and joking with each other throughout the day, but we’re also highly skilled and experienced in all aspects of dentistry. What to Expect at Your First Visit
THE PATIENT EXPERIENCE
When you first walk through our doors, you’ll be greeted by our comfortable environment and our friendly office staff. You’ll be invited to sit down and relax as you fill out any new patient forms prior to your appointment. Once those are complete and your hygienist is ready for you, we’ll invite you back into one of our operatories.
You’ll receive a comprehensive exam, x-rays, and your doctor will determine what type of cleaning will best suit your needs, and sit down with you to discuss the results. If everything looks good, we'll perform a cleaning and you’ll be able to schedule your next appointment in the front office. If anything needs extra attention, your doctor will explain the results and take time to address any questions or concerns you might have, and he will describe any further treatment recommendations.

In order to help make your visit more efficient, we ask that you bring your ID, your insurance information, and any patient forms you’ve filled out prior to your appointment.

Community Outreach
Our philosophy of care goes beyond the office walls. We believe that it’s our responsibility to care for our patients, both in and out of the operating chair, and one of the best ways to do this is through our community outreach programs. We regularly serve through Watermark Urgent Care, providing dental treatment to people in Dallas. We also recently hosted Watermark Urgent Care in our office, providing cleanings to people in Watermark Church's refugee and prison ministries.
